Charles Murray Says the American Project Is Dead Unless We Fix It
“The American project, as originally defined, is dead,” says Dr. Charles Murray.
The AEI scholar and accomplished author joins Ben on today’s episode to discuss his new book, By the People: Rebuilding Liberty Without Permission.
Murray believes that an emasculated limited government has allowed the modern regulatory state to run amok, steamrolling the liberties of everyday Americans. But it’s not all bad. He says there’s reason for hope.
Murray argues that by litigating rather than legislating, conservatives and libertarians can roll back the administrative state. Reasoning that “the regulatory apparatus cannot withstand a regulatory assault,” the scholar proposes an innovative approach to reclaiming rights lost: legal defense funds.
“I want to make government into an insurable hazard,” he quips.
